COACH VENESKY OF U-12 SAYS:
Hello all,
First of all I would like to thank the parents for the last 7 weeks of non-stop basketball for your
daughters. We traveled to many different areas in Ohio and played quite a few different teams during that time. I thought
the girls did a great job of playing against the best competition in Ohio.
We played 7 tournaments and their record
was 22-9. We played in 5 finals and lost in 2 other semi finals. I thought defensively the girls got better throughout the
year especially when you think about girls playing different roles based on what team mates were at the tournament that
weekend.
Playing as 7th graders in the Barberton tournament was great and also beating 3 out of 4 7th grade teams.
Many coaches and opposing parents during the 7 weeks commented to me on what a nice team we had. They commented
about our shooting, rebounding and defense. The other comment that I liked from the opposing coaches was that they knew when
they played us they knew we wouldn't give up no matter what the score was.
I enjoyed coaching your daughters and the
best thing about them is that they all are great teammates. Getting to know them on and off the court, you can see that they
have been raised the right way.
I will be sending out to the local papers in the next few weeks an article about the
girls this season, hopefully they will get it in your local paper.
Some parents have asked me about summer leagues
and fall leagues for the girls. I know that most of the girls will be going to camps this summer also. I will contact you
about the fall leagues as time gets closer. We will be skipping the summer leagues and let the kids take a break or attend
camps or some of the girls play other sports.
Summer leagues are forming in Stow, Twinsburg to name a few places. From
what I understand girls can join them as individuals.
Jeff and I were very proud to have the girls represent Western
Reserve Stars and we thank you for your help and encourgement throughout the year.
I will be updating the website
from time to time and we plan on running AAU teams next year.
Thanks again and I hope everyone has a great summer,
Vance
